Privacy
Prototype version — this page describes the site as it currently works, and will be updated if that changes.
What this site does with your data
PubFilter doesn't have user accounts, doesn't ask you to sign up, and doesn't store anything about you on a server — there isn't one. This is a static site; everything runs in your own browser.
Location
If you click "My location," your browser asks your permission and shares your coordinates directly with the page, used only to sort and filter pubs by distance. It's never sent anywhere else, never stored beyond your current browser session, and you can decline the permission prompt and type a place name instead.
If you type a place name, it's sent to Nominatim (OpenStreetMap's free geocoding service) to convert it to coordinates. See their own privacy practices for how they handle that request.
Local storage / caching
To avoid reloading the full Sussex pub list on every visit, this site caches pub and waterway data in your browser's local storage for up to 24 hours. This is just a performance cache, contains no personal data, and stays on your device — clearing your browser's site data removes it.
Third-party data and images
Pub locations and details come from OpenStreetMap, fetched live from your browser when you load the page. Some photos are hosted on Wikimedia Commons. Loading these involves your browser making requests to those services directly, which may log the request the way any web server does (e.g. your IP address) — that's between you and them, not something PubFilter collects or sees.
Cookies
This site does not currently set any cookies.
Changes
If PubFilter adds features that change this (accounts, ads, analytics), this page will be updated to reflect it before those features go live.
